Two of the nation’s largest foundations, J.P. Morgan Chase Foundation and Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, joined Kansas City’s LISC (Local Initiative Support Corporation) in providing $400,000 to seed CBKC’s organizational capacity and other goals.
CBKC is the first Kansas City-area recipient of Chase’s PRO (Partnerships for Raising Opportunity) in Neighborhoods planning grant. PRO Neighborhoods is a $125 million, five-year initiative to provide communities with the needed capital and tools to support locally driven solutions and address key drives of inequality across the country. CBKC is poised for a multi-year relationship with Chase as the grant also funds implementation and other longer-term aspects of proposed projects.
The Kauffman and LISC implementation funds enable CBKC to carry out these strategic hires and pursue the multiplying development opportunities as it manages through this phase of fast growth.
