Emmet Pierson, Jr., chief executive officer of Community Builders of Kansas City (CBKC), announced today that Shannon Hesterberg has been named chief operations and real estate officer overseeing all aspects of operations and real estate for the organization.

“Shannon has been an integral part of CBKC’s growth and success, involved in nearly every project we’ve negotiated and developed; grant, incentive or financing we’ve received; piece of legislation we’ve lobbied for and hiring of employees since she joined us 17 years ago,” said Pierson. “She has extensive knowledge of every facet of the commercial real estate industry, from structuring financing deals to topping off, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this role than her.”

Hesterberg joined CBKC in 2004 as project manager and in 2014 was promoted to director of real estate, responsible for project management of development projects from design through construction and into operation. Prior to CBKC she was team leader at R.D. Zande & Associates, a quality assurance company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, where she managed design and project management of land developments. Before that Hesterberg served as project manager and environmental engineer at EnSafe, an environmental consulting firm headquartered in Memphis, Tenn. and at Land Tech Remedial engineering firm in Monroe, Conn.

“I have truly cherished the challenge of pushing CBKC’s projects from concept to fruition for the past 17 years,” said Hesterberg. “This job is uniquely satisfying because of the positive impacts the projects impart on our underserved communities. I always look forward to what’s next because our highly motivated, passionate team is wholly dedicated to achieving the unachievable.”

Hesterberg holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Xavier University and is a certified economic development financial professional.
